Milk Maiden Update #9

Alright, my last update was 4 Aug and things continued to get progressively worse. I’d been doing very little pumping and some days (multiple days), nothing at all. So now we are nearly all the way back to the drawing board because I barely have any milk in me at all.

On Monday (20 Sep) I decided we’re officially starting over! The goal is to get back to pumping like my life depends on it and see if we can get back to 7-9 ounces a day and to see how long it takes.

Day 1 – 20 Sep
I pumped a total of 3 times, 20 minutes each time, and took one round of supplements.

  • Sunflower Lecithin
  • Spirulina tablets
  • Milk Thistle
  • Goat’s Rue

Day 2 – 21 Sep
I pumped a total of 3 or maybe 4 times, 15-30 minutes each, and took both AM and PM rounds of supplements. My Liquid Gold got delivered today, so I added that to the supplements mix. I also drank some Mother’s Milk tea as I plan on making that part of my daily habit for the benefit of the tea and to help me boost my water intake.

  • Liquid Gold
  • Mother’s Milk tea

I also bought some Lady Leche from milky-mama.com. That should be getting here sometime this week.

I think I’m finding it difficult to go back to a life of being hooked up to a pump every couple of hours. The first time I did it, I was super excited and I wanted to push myself just to see if I could make milk. Now that I’ve done it and I still have some milk… I wouldn’t say I’m over it, but I definitely appreciate my freedom from the pump. I definitely need to work myself back into pumping 12 times a day. Just thinking of it is exhausting, but a girl’s got to have goals!

So, we’re at the starting line (again) and I’ll try to do an update every Friday if I can manage it.
